Foreman / Stable-hand Fulltime Position

Gooree Park Stud is one of Mudgee district’s most historic and picturesque properties. Within our iconic white fences and surrounding rolling hills the Stud Complex boasts two full size race tracks (grass & sand), two sets of pre-training stables, 40 speller stables & yards on 645ha.

We are looking for a person with extensive horse handling and husbandry skills to assist our Pre-Trainer / Complex Manager in the day to day running of the business. The well-being of the horses at Gooree is an absolute priority and we require a candidate that is highly organised with a good eye for horses’ condition. Previous experience in the thoroughbred racing industry is essential.

The successful candidate will have experienced in the following:

  • Veterinary administration assistance and keen observation skill
  • Organising and applying dressing and treatments
  • Performing all horse handling duties with confidence working with both juvenile and older horses
  • Good knowledge of stable work and be able to undertake daily stable duties
  • Knowledge of the rules of racing and related protocols
  • General farm maintenance duties including fencing, labouring, cleaning.
  • Operating equipment such as general tractors (with or without attachments), mower, front end loader, forklift, and general herbicide spray units

A good work ethic is essential and it is understood that this a very “hands on” job and requires multi-tasking. The applicant must have a current driver’s license.

Horse Educator / Track Rider

Our Racing Pre-training team is looking for motivated individuals to assist with the daily educating, exercising and caring of the race horses.

The horse educator / track rider position is available to experienced, capable horse rider who can manage young horse work from riding yearling back from breakers through to racehorses in full work and have skills that enables them to educate horses ready for racing.

Successful applicants will also be capable of identifying factors that affect racehorse performance, have excellent horsemanship and stable skills.

Applicants must have proven experience and be able to competently perform fast gallop track work, be physically fit and knowledge in racing matters will be preferable though not essential.

An above award salary package is being offered, on-farm accommodation is available and we are flexible with full time or casual packages. Working Visa holders are encouraged to apply.

 Irrigation Technician / Maintenance Full time Position

  • Irrigation operations – pumps, irrigators, piping infrastructure
  • Racetrack & training facilities

Gooree Park Stud Complex boasts two full size race tracks (grass & sand), two sets of pre-training stables, 40 speller stables & yards, staff & visitors housing accommodation, orchards within an area of 645ha.

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Irrigation and Maintenance Attendant to join our team at our Pre-Training & Complex area in a fulltime position.

Key responsibilities

  • Irrigation and water operations of the Stud Complex
  • Maintenance of Company assets and infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Environmental and OHS legislation.

We welcome applications from individuals who possess the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience working in irrigation
  • Experience working with bore and river pumps
  • Centre pivot operations experience preferred
  • Experience working with Poly, Copper and PVC pipe
  • Experience in performing general maintenance work including fencing, labouring, cleaning and race track upkeep.
  • This also includes the operation of equipment such as general tractors (with or without attachments), mower, front end loader, forklift, and general herbicide spray operations.

We are seeking an individual with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm for their work and demonstrates a strong commitment to safe work practices.
