Breeding Stud

The breeding stud side offers all the usual services of foaling, weaning, sales preparation. Utilising large weanling and yearling paddocks (averaging 45 to 50 acres) to grow out great boned, sound horses along with irrigated mare and foal paddocks. Lush, flat foaling yards and paddocks mean your mares foal down safely and under the careful watch of our 24hr foaling staff during the breeding season. Once foals are stable, they are put in the "nursery", where they are able to find their footing in a larger space before being in a paddock with other mares and foals. When weaned, the weanling joins its batch mates in lightly undulating hills until they are yearlings. In this period, the weanlings are handled, trimmed, and taught important lessons on proper stable etiquette and behaviour. The mares are joined by other like-mares (in foal/dry) and they continue their cycles as broodmares.

Racing Stud

The Spelling & Pre Training side is a state of the art training facility with a fully maintained irrigated grass and sand track the size of Rosehill Racecourse. Since opening commercially, a diversified pool of horses from the country's top trainers have been utilising the amazing facilities and the large, undulating grounds that only Gooree can offer. With the entire property being at an elevation of over 420m above sea level, not only does the racehorse build resistance in its lungs - it also builds strength in bones, muscles, and joints; as well as a healthy mind for its future career on the track.

Spellers have small yards with stables, larger yards and paddocks. Gooree has two well equipped stables comfortable accommodating 16 Pre Trainers in each.

Racehorses are given the very best foundation at Gooree Park. From its early life all the way through to pre-training on our very own home track the racehorse:

  • Gains comfort on track in a calming atmosphere ideal for learning
  • Develops its mind for racing without unnecessary pressures
  • Trains with other talented racehorses who are at the same stage
  • Has a paddock and stable to unwind and prepare for its next racing season
  • Is able to unwind from racing without completely losing strength
